The couple, who lived in Chile, was visiting the Red Valley of Cusco in Peru when Gabriela was suddenly hit by lightning.
Tour guide, Efraín Zamora Galindo, said the victim was struck at around midday on 13 November.
He said the nature spot, called Valle Rojo in Spanish, is far from any populated areas.
He also stated that it rains and snows frequently in the high-altitude tourist site, known for its red mountains and mineral springs.
A rescue team arrived on the mountain to remove the victim’s body and provide medical assistance to her injured partner.

They said the 32-year-old victim’s clothes had burn marks on them.
Her body was transferred to a morgue in the town of Sicuani.
There have been no further updates on the health status of her husband.
Gabriela, who originally came from Buenos Aires, Argentina, moved to Chile to study cosmetology and aesthetics in 2015.
She met Samuel while attending the Braniff School of Cosmetology in the Chilean capital, Santiago.
The investigation into her death is ongoing.
Gabriela’s death came shortly after a footballer was killed by lightning during a local football match in the Peruvian city of Huancayo.
José Hugo De la Cruz Meza died on the pitch while four other players were injured during the electrical storm on 3 November, as reported by NeedToKnow.
