A bystander managed to drag the singer from his burning vehicle before a passing nurse provided immediate medical assistance.
However, he passed away at the scene.
The singer, whose real name is José Altagracia de León Corcino, was living in Greensboro in North Carolina, US, before his death.

Originally from Guayabal in the Dominican Republic, he was killed in the crash in Harnett County, North Carolina, on Saturday (10 May).
While driving his Toyota Camry, the owner of a 2017 Chevrolet Cruze was allegedly travelling the wrong way on Highway 29.
The other driver, named Rolando Ventura Alberto, 19, also died in the head-on smash.
Franklin the Boss was a prominent artist in the world of merengue music, as reported by Need To Know.

He started performing with Latin music bands when he was 13 years old and launched his solo project ‘The Boss’ in 2005, from which he took his stage name.
He performed to merengue audiences all over the US and worked as a producer for emerging artists.
He collaborated with merengue star Kinito Méndez on several projects.
Méndez paid tribute to him on Instagram: “My people, we deeply regret the physical disappearance of our brother, friend and former bandmate, my son Franklin the Boss.

“This happened last night in a terrible accident in the USA.
“Today, Dominican merengue has lost a great talent and a great human being.
“I join in the pain that overwhelms his family and all the people of his beloved Guayabal.”
