It is legal to keep snakes as pets in Mexico, provided they are not endangered species, as reported by Need To Know.
To keep a snake at home, prospective owners have to send off a form and may be granted or denied authorisation.

Even authorised owners are not allowed to take exotic pets onto the Mexico City Metro.
Only assistance animals, such as guide dogs, are permitted to board.
A Mexico City Metro spokesperson said: “He was taken to a specialised agency for minors.
“And an investigation was opened for crimes against biodiversity.”
Some locals rushed to the lad’s defence.
One said: “There are people having sex in the metro cars, people out of their minds bothering others.

“Drunks drinking, smoking, doing drugs — and you focus on who’s carrying an unusual pet to harass them.”
Jean added: “Better fix the metro.
“Or pay attention to the junkies who come in to do drugs or cause trouble, and leave this kid alone.”
