Before his death, Magdy described the sport as “an exceptional water experience that combines physical strength, balance, and excitement”.
The 44-year-old, who performed at the African Footballer of the Year ceremony in 2019, was flyboarding in front of hundreds of tourists in the Red Sea resort town of Sahl Hasheesh, eastern Egypt.

During the extravaganza, Magdy, who had nearly 100,000 followers on Instagram, lost control of his equipment and plunged from the sky on Sunday evening (13 Jul).
He was rushed to Hurghada General Hospital with serious head injuries and passed away several days later.
Red Sea Security Director Hassan Abdel Aziz said, “The flyboarder fell from a great height during a performance.
“Medical services were immediately dispatched to the scene, and a preliminary investigation showed that the athlete fell during the show and suffered multiple head injuries.”
The victim was not wearing a safety helmet at the time.
His death was confirmed on his Instagram page yesterday (17 Jul).
His brother said in a statement: “We announce with deep sadness and sorrow the passing of my brother, my mother’s and father’s son, my friend, my heart, and my entire life, Magdy Abdelghany, who passed away.
“A tribute will be held at the Al Mina Mosque events hall immediately after prayer on 18 July.”

He amassed a large online following and was invited to perform at numerous events across the country.
He performed at the African Footballer of the Year ceremony in 2019 when then-Liverpool star Sadio Mane scooped the award.
