A 27-year-old man was found collapsed at his computer, wearing a gas mask connected to a canister of refrigerant gas.
Leonardo Di Loreto’s parents called emergency services, but paramedics could only confirm his death.
No signs of violence were found on his body on Sunday evening (24 Aug).

Authorities are exploring several possibilities, including an erotic game gone wrong, a social media challenge, or a voluntary act.
Among Leonardo’s belongings were latex suits, collars, harnesses, and a “puppy play” mask.
The gas mask he wore is the type commonly used in workshops or agriculture.
Investigators say his death in Roseto degli Abruzzi, on Italy’s Adriatic coast, may have been caused by accidentally inhaling excessive gas.

They are analysing his devices to see whether he was in contact with anyone who witnessed or encouraged the incident.
Leonardo is believed to have led a double life.
Offline, he was a Communication Sciences graduate with a love of motocross, animals, and the countryside.
Behind closed doors, however, he was reportedly a key figure in the Italian “puppy” community, travelling abroad for gatherings and even organising events himself.

He had dreamed of moving to Berlin and had begun learning German in preparation.
Friends and acquaintances described him as kind, reserved, and always helpful, as reported by Need To Know.
The Teramo prosecutor’s office is investigating on suspicion of incitement to suicide.
