A poor OAP dog survived after being hurled into an icy pond by a brute and left to die.
The lurcher – named Tom – was pulled to safety by wardens and taken in by an animal charity.
He was suffering from hypothermia, but vets then found out he has incurable cancer.

Tom, 13, has found a foster family to look after him in his twilight years.
And they threw a birthday part for him with Angels 4 Dogs Charity in Birchington, Kent.
The pooch is now living in nearby Canterbury, as reported on Need To Know.

He has been with his new owners since he was saved from the pond in Worcestershire, in April.
“He’s such a loving, gentle soul, who is lucky to be alive that it’s the least we could do,” said Yasmine Moss of the Angels 4 Dogs.
She added: “We don’t know how long he’s got left.
“He’s on medication to try and slow his illness.
“There were biscuits, treats and specially made cakes for a very special dog.”
