Police handed out free boxes of corn to locals after a lorry overturned on a motorway, spilling its load of sweet corn across the road.
The semi-trailer flipped at around 2am last Thursday (28 Aug) on Highway 69 near Hillside, Colorado, US, leaving cobs scattered across the tarmac.
The lorry’s refrigerated roof was completely torn off, but the driver escaped uninjured, as reported by Need To Know.

Undamaged corn was collected and taken to the Wet Mountain Fire Protection District in Westcliffe.
Residents were invited to swing by the fire station and grab some free corn on the cob.

A police spokesperson said: “An earful of morning news.
“Emergency crews were called to Highway 69 just north of Reed Road for a semi truck rollover crash.
“It was a refrigerated semi trailer carrying a load of ears of sweet corn.
“Members of the community can pick up sweet corn at the fire station on the northwest corner.
“Fire fighter volunteers and posse will be on scene to assist.”
Traffic on one lane of the highway was alternated until the truck was removed around noon.

Authorities warned motorists to be on alert, as corn remnants could attract hungry deer.
Locals were quick to joke about the incident.
One said: “Donations of butter and dental floss are gladly being accepted at the Colorado County Sheriff’s Office.”

Another added: “Please let me know when a peach truck rolls!”
Dee quipped: “Wow, that was corny.”
Chris commented: “The corn was delicious.”

Paul added: “Gonna need a Deputy for regulating all the shine made from that batch of corn.”
