A three‑year‑old boy was tragically mauled to death by a pack of stray dogs after leaving home alone.
Locals say he was crossing a field when he was surrounded and attacked on Saturday (4 Oct).
By the time neighbours intervened, it was too late – the dogs had dragged him into a ditch.

A police source told local media: “The child came from a disadvantaged family living on the outskirts of town, in a neighbourhood overrun with stray dogs. The area is littered with rubbish.
“The little boy reportedly told his mother he was going to his grandmother’s, and it all happened in a split second. He was attacked by several dogs, who dragged him into a ravine filled with waste.”

The boy is survived by his parents, a one‑year‑old sibling, and another sibling on the way.
Heartbreakingly, his father posted a photograph of him with the caption: “Instead of taking you to school, I’m taking you on your final journey.”
Authorities in Mărășești – south of Bacău, Romania – are now investigating the parents for possible manslaughter.
“According to preliminary information, the family is not known in the community for any behavioural issues or social problems,” a source from social services said.
“Initial findings suggest both parents were at home at the time of the incident: the mother caring for the one‑year‑old, while the father was doing household chores.”
The names of those involved have been withheld in local reports, as reported by Need To Know.

Just two days before the tragedy, on Thursday (2 Oct), Mărășești’s mayor, Adrian Toderasc, announced that 67 stray dogs had been taken to a shelter that week.
He said: “The Mărășești Town Hall is continuing its efforts to remove stray dogs from the town.”
Lawyer Beatrice Comăniceanu told local media: “A three‑year‑old child should be under supervision, not going to visit their grandparents alone and crossing the road. It probably wasn’t the first time he’d done it.
“But ultimately, the negligence lies with the authorities. Those dogs are feral. They’ve been there for a long time. They should have been removed long ago.”
