Mao had to attend treatment sessions around their appearances on the show.
The Malaysian singer was diagnosed with colorectal cancer in 2019, as reported by Need To Know.
The cancer spread throughout her body and she passed away in hospital last Wednesday evening (7 Jan).

Her husband Xiao Jingsong said on Facebook: “Our beloved Mao passed away peacefully last night.
“Thank you for your companionship and the love you gave us throughout.
“Now she has let go of her illness, her life is complete, and she has been reborn in the Pure Land.”
He added that his wife will continue to be a ray of light that will remain “forever in our hearts”.
Xiao, who is also a singer, revealed that his wife attended hospital appointments during her run on Good Voice Family.
He said she would go to hospital for radiotherapy in the morning and only practice singing in the evening.

She was also sent to hospital twice after the competition and underwent two surgeries.
He said she insisted on competing while ill because “she didn’t want any regrets in life”.
In 2008, Mao won fourth place at the Global Hokkien Songwriting Competition in China.
In 2010, Mao and Xiao, who she met through singing, won the duet title at the Qixi Love Song Competition in their native Malaysia.
Her funeral is scheduled for today (12 Jan).
