They were not physically harmed.
Police had pursued the car hours earlier but called an end to the chase for safety reasons at about 2am on Sunday (3 May).
They finally stopped the car at 11am and tasered the alleged driver in Coonamble, New South Wales, Australia.
The 28-year-old man had been armed with a machete, New South Wales Police said.
He was taken to Coonamble Multi-Purpose Health Services for assessment under police guard and then taken to Coonamble Police Station.

He was charged with driving offences and wounding a person intending to cause grievous bodily harm.
He was refused bail and is next due in court on 14 July, as reported by Need To Know.
Victoria was airlifted to hospital and is in a stable condition.
Her family said: “She had suffered over 20 machete stab wounds, along with three broken ribs, a punctured lung, and significant facial injuries.
“Doctors have also identified suspected nerve damage affecting her feet, which may have long-term impacts on her mobility.”
They said she faced unimaginable trauma and that her recovery will be long and complex, adding that the emotional toll of what she endured will “take immense time, care, and support to heal”.
A GoFundMe has been set up to support Victoria’s recovery.
