Story from Jam Press (Reliant Robins) Pictured: A 2001 Reliant Robin SLX Special 65 Edition. Seven Reliant Robins collected by fan of the three-wheelers going under the hammer Seven Reliant Robins that were collected by a fan of the three-wheelers are going under the hammer. The quirky cars are expected to fetch over £16,000. Among them is a white 1978 MK1 which is tipped to sell for £4,000. It has 56,091 miles on the clock and has recently been repainted but it doesn’t have an MOT. It is tax exempt because it is considered a “historic vehicle.” They are being sold by Ewbank’s auctioneers in Woking, Surrey today (29 Sept). A unique gold one made in 2001 to mark the model’s 65th anniversary. The SLX Special 65 Edition - which has done 78,830 miles - is expected to attract bids of up to £3,000. It has been fitted with red leather seats and alloy wheels. However, the listing warns: “This vehicle is suffering from lacquer peel on the bonnet. “Inside of the vehicle has water damage to the carpet, the source of the water damage has been found and repair has been completed.” A 1999 Blue Reliant Robin van - like Del Boy’s in Only Fools and Horses - is set to sell for £2,500. It has 29,309 miles on the clock. The listing states: “These vans are now very rare within the reliant community and now becoming a desirable classic. “The overall appearance of this van is clean, will require a new tyre on the offside rear.” A 1997 Reliant Robin LX, a 2000 Reliant Robin MK3 and a 1984 Reliant Robin Rialto - all blue - are set to be bought for about £1,800 each. A beige 1986 Reliant Robin Rialto is the cheapest and is likely to go for about £1,200. A spokesperson for Ewbank’s said: “They are all sold as part of a deceased estate from a collection of Robin Reliant cars.” They are among 37 cars being sold at the auction. ENDS
