As she dangled from the bridge pillar, her partner quickly tied her arm to it securing her until the fire department arrived.
This prevented the woman from sinking into the river or being dragged away by the strong current.
The emergency services had trouble accessing the location as the vehicles were not able to drive on the train tracks and air support was unavailable.
One fire fighter ran three kilometres to reach the victim, as reported by Need To Know.
The woman suffered bruises on her left upper limb, right lower limb and swallowed plenty of water after falling.
Fortunately she was in a stable condition after being taken to hospital.
The incident took place on 25 December.
The couple were posing on an iron bridge that trains use to cross the Paraty river in the municipality of Araquari, north of Santa Catarina, Brazil.
Santa Catarina Fire Department stated: “Once the location was found, it was realized that the vehicles would not reach the site, which is why air support was requested, but the resource was not available.
“Given the situation, the crew requested support from the volunteer firefighters of Araquari so that they could go with their boat, but due to the difficult access, they were unable to reach the site.
“The ASU [Auto Socorro de Urgência] and AR [Auto Resgate] crews ran the route with the material and the rescue chief went ahead to get there faster.”
