A biker braved a high-voltage shock to save a boy from being zapped – before reviving him with CPR he’d learnt from online videos.

The nine-year-old schoolboy was walking down a flooded street when he suddenly fell backwards into the murky water.

As he lay stiff on his back, a passing biker noticed his plight, hopped off his motorcycle, and carefully walked around him.

After a few seconds of hesitation, he stepped onto a pile of gravel next to the fallen lad and reached out to grab his arm.

In a lightning-fast move, he dragged the boy out of the water and onto the gravel before scooping him up in his arms.

The boy – named Jaden – was walking home from school when the drama unfolded in Chennai, India.

He received an electric shock when he stepped on an exposed live wire hidden beneath the water on Wednesday (16 Apr).

The passing biker, Kannan Tamizhselvan, was also zapped as he went to help the schoolboy.

The 24-year-old told local media: “It was raining heavily and there was water stagnation. I was on my way when I saw him fall down.

“I thought he might have slipped, but as I went closer, I saw his limbs move rapidly and realised he was being electrocuted.

“I called for help but no one came forward. I went closer and touched him, I got electrocuted as well but still I pulled him out.”

After pulling the boy out of the water, Kannan gave him CPR, as reported by Need To Know.

Local media say he had learnt how to perform the procedure from watching YouTube videos.

Kannan said: “We then pressed his chest to make him breathe, gave first aid and took him to the hospital.”

It emerged that the underground cable had received a small puncture when the road was relaid, according to the authorities.

The boy’s father, Robert, told local media: “I don’t know Kannan.

“He called me seeing my number on Jaden’s school ID card.

“We rushed to the hospital then. I have been thanking him every day since then.”
