Several rows of Red Bull cans – all fitted with red and yellow security tags – have been spotted at a Sainsbury’s Local in a posh London suburb.
The supermarket has tagged every version of the popular energy drink including the original, sugar free and flavoured varieties such as coconut and the peach summer edition.
The tins vary in price, with the original labelled the most expensive at £2.40.

The set-up was spotted on Sunday (18 May) in Sydenham, where house prices averaged £573,569 over the last year, according to Rightmove.

The store is a minute’s walk from the local train station.
When asked why the excessive security measure had been put in place, a staff member simply explained: “People steal them”.
This product issue seems to be a Red Bull-specific issue.

As other energy drinks, such as Monster and Relentless – which can be found on the same section of rows – have not been security tagged.
This is not the only Sainsbury’s branch experiencing issues with Red Bull theft either, as reported by Need To Know.
A customer visiting a branch in Stratton Street, near the Ritz Hotel in Mayfair, west London, noticed anti theft tops on cans being sold at £1.90 last year.
He joked: “We’ve failed as a country.”
