A new immersive murder mystery dining experience based on Netflix’s Knives Out film series is making a splash.

Fans of the franchise attended the launch event in London on Tuesday (3 June) – with one devotee travelling over 200 miles to be there.

The event, dubbed ‘The Perfect Bite’, opens to the public today (5 June).

Created by Secret City, a design studio specialising in immersive storytelling events, it is inspired by the second movie, ‘Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery’ and involves a four-course dinner peppered with clues to solve a murder.

Held at steak restaurant Gaucho in the gold vaults of the old Bank of England, the launch marks the start of an ongoing weekly residency.

Twenty-three-year-old Knives Out fan Kieran Thorley hopped on a train from Manchester to take part and was left “blown away” by the experience.

It kicked off with chef Maribelle Moore exposing a dark secret about a foodie group dubbed the‘Salty Six’ – with one of them guilty of a chilling crime.

Tensions then ran high as Logan Locke – a colleague of the film’s Detective Benoit Blanc, played by Daniel Craig – requested help in finding the killer.

“I was interested to see how they would translate themes from such an iconic series into a dinner murder mystery – and it was brilliantly done,” he said.

“From the moment I walked into the restaurant, I was totally immersed.

“We were greeted by members of the ‘Salty Six’, who handed out business cards to give us an idea of their character’s personality, and these had real websites and social media profiles for us to interact with.

“The attention to detail was insanely good.

“I almost forgot I was in London and not on a film set!”

Kieran and the other guests enjoyed dishes including mushroom ‘cigars’, chorizo, and sirloin steaks.

He added: “Objects, codes and puzzles were placed alongside the dishes.

“Between each course, the characters performed scenes where they dropped further hints.

“We were encouraged to call the characters over and quiz them throughout the evening, which was fun.

“The clues would get you closer to guessing correctly – but they also put the suspicion on the other characters.

“We had one last chance to identify the killer before dessert, when all was revealed.

“I managed to work out who it was just beforehand, so I was pretty pleased with myself.”

Tickets start at £125 a head and can be bought online – but act quick before another murderer strikes.

The Knives Out experience will run from Wednesday to Friday at 7pm, and on Saturdays at 1pm and 6pm.
