A violent thief who was found hiding under a bed to avoid arrest has been slapped with a four-year prison sentence.
Liam Nevin’s attempt at avoiding handcuffs went terribly wrong after he chose to take cover under a mattress.
The prolific robber, who had threatened to stab a shop worker, popped himself under the bed inside a caravan when he heard officers arriving.
Nevin had been involved in a number of violent thefts and raids before the law caught up with him.
He was handed his four-year sentence at St Albans Crown Court, as reported by Need To Know.
Bodycam footage from the arrest shows a bewildered Nevin popping up from under the bed.
One officer entering the caravan makes a beeline for the bed, where he finds exactly what he is looking for.
The arrest took place in July following a series of police warrants in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire.
A spokesperson for Hertfordshire Police stated: “Perhaps the world’s fastest game of hide and seek?
“If you’re looking to evade arrest, perhaps you could at least come up with something a bit more imaginative than hiding under the bed.
“Liam Nevin will be spending over four years in prison for a number of theft offences and violent robberies, including one where he threatened to stab a shop worker.”
Referencing the hit 2008 movie starring Nevin’s namesake Liam Neeson, they added: “Not to go all ‘Taken’ on you, but if you’re committing violent crime in Hertfordshire, we will look for you, and we will find you.”
The sentencing took place on 9 January.
