A stuntman has been hospitalised with serious injuries after a high-fall stunt went horribly wrong.

Footage shows Su Deyang standing on a high platform as crew members secured mattresses at the base to cushion his landing.

After receiving the go-ahead, he teetered briefly on the edge before launching himself backwards.

Only the lower half of his body landed on the mattresses, and he face-planted onto the concrete floor.

The accident occurred on 20 January during filming of a construction-site action scene for Formosa TV’s drama ‘Tofu Mama’.

Su, 37, was knocked unconscious, suffering a brain bleed, facial fractures, and dental injuries.

He was taken from Taoyuan City, Taiwan, to a hospital in Taipei, where he spent seven days in the ICU in critical condition.

He is now in a general ward and faces a long rehabilitation process, as reported by Need To Know.

He has no memory of the accident.

His fiancée, Rena, described his brain as “fragile as tofu”.

She has accused Formosa TV of failing to issue a formal apology.

The couple had planned to marry this year but the wedding has now been postponed.
Production company Wanxing Communication claimed Su inspected the setup beforehand and considered it safe.

However, the Taoyuan City Government Labour Inspection Office confirmed that adequate fall-prevention measures were not implemented, and the company will be fined.

The Ministry of Labour also noted that Su was not enrolled in labour insurance or occupational accident insurance.

If his employer is found to have failed to provide legally mandated coverage, it could face multiple penalties.

Formosa TV has reportedly paid Su 6,000 NTD (£140) in “condolence money” and covered some medical bills.

However, it has allegedly yet to pay nursing fees totalling up to 90,000 NTD (£2,090), according to Rena.

She has not ruled out legal action.
