Amazing imagery taken in Iceland shows the country’s iconic winter night views – with the unique scenery leaving viewers breathless.
National Geographic photographer, Kiliii Yuyan, recently photographed the wonders of the Nordic island as he explored the vast icy landscape through the lens of a smartphone.

Some of the images show the iconic northern lights, which can be very hard to spot and peak in September and March, while others show off the impressive glacier lagoon Jökulsárlón.
Other snaps show huge blocks of ice drifting to the shore, shimmering in white and blue shades, as well as black sandy beaches at Fauskasandur and glassy ice sculptures.

Kiliii also captured a mesmerising photo of an abandoned plane with Aurora Borealis flickering in the background.
“One of the most challenging areas of smartphone photography is making pictures in low light,” said Kiliii, who snapped the shots with the OPPO Find X5 Pro.

“It’s easy to miss capturing detail, as well as extreme lights and darks that can elevate your photography to another level.”

The photographer’s award-winning work has previously illuminated the stories of the Arctic and human communities connected to the land.

He has travelled across the polar regions working with indigenous cultures and wildlife.
The photos are part of a campaign called ‘Empower Every Moment’, celebrating Kiliii’s journey through Iceland, which launched on 15 March alongside National Geographic and OPPO.
