Vince Jackman and Tom Kereluk, a festive-loving couple, have transformed their Red Deer City home in Alberta, Canada, with a staggering 152 decorated Christmas trees. Building their collection over 15 years, each tree features unique themes, from Las Vegas souvenirs to a Barbie-themed fir and a tribute to Ukraine.
Describing themselves as “hoarders at heart,” Tom enjoys repurposing items for the trees, creating a joyful atmosphere for family and friends during their annual wine and cheesecake party.
Tom shared, “I just can’t throw anything out, so I make these trees that have stuff I already have or I’ve seen in a thrift store.” The couple’s festive display is not just for personal enjoyment; it serves a charitable purpose.
In a heartwarming gesture, they open their home for tours, raising funds for the Central Alberta Humane Society. Over the years, their efforts have garnered over $30,000 for the charity.
The couple’s dedication extends to honoring their late chihuahua, Sofia, a Christmas enthusiast who would often be found nestled under the trees.
Vince emphasized, “Every Christmas if you couldn’t find her, she was always underneath some of the trees. This year, we have three trees dedicated to her, who we do all this fundraising for.”
Expanding their charitable endeavors, Vince and Tom have invested in new decorations and accepted pre-loved ones from the public. The event, running from early December to January 14, 2024, allows visitors to tour their festive wonderland on specific dates, making donations to the chosen charity.
Tom expressed their desire to contribute during challenging times, stating, “We enjoy giving to others. It’s a tough year for charities, but being associated with them, it just tugs on my heart.”
