Firefighters were called to the Valdespartera Fairground in Zaragoza, Spain, in the early hours of 13 October.
They used a fire engine crane to reach the thrillseekers’ lofty position.
Following protocols for working at heights, the firefighting team rescued each rider individually.
They were strapped into a safety harness before being lowered back to terra firma on the crane.
Firefighters had been preparing for such rescue operations in the days leading up to the city’s annual Fiestas del Pilar, as reported by Need To Know.
An investigation into the ride’s breakdown is ongoing.
Footage of the rescue has gone viral on TikTok with 1.3m views and hundreds of comments.
One local, named Marta Huguet, said: “I was the one who called the fire brigade.”
Another remarked: “I was going to go on it the other day, but it looked a little unreliable.”

Jonathan commented: “The same ride broke down a few years ago in Barakaldo, you can see the video on YouTube.”
Javi wrote: “I was there, I thought I was going to die, thank goodness Marina called the fire department.”

The annual festival, which took place between 5 and 13 October this year, attracted tens of thousands of visitors.
The fiesta, which is held in honour of Zaragoza’s patron saint Our Lady of the Pillar, includes traditional music events, cultural activities, and religious parades.
