A teenage boy miraculously survived after being taken to hospital with a metal rod wedged in his skull.
The 14-year-old suffered the horror injury while out playing.
Shocked doctors performed intricate surgery to remove the pole that had pierced his brain.

The boy was in a critical condition before the operation but was said to be gradually improving.

Dr Ishwar Singh, chairman of the Neurosurgery Department of PGIMS Hospital in Rohtak, India said the boy had arrived unconscious.
The rod had caused severe damage to his brain
It was extremely challenging to save his life, Dr Singh said.

He added that the neurosurgical team rushed the boy to the operating room for lifesaving surgery.
A complicated operation was performed which the medical team termed one of the most challenging operations as reported by Need To Know.

Doctors found the rod had caused a fracture and bleeding in the left portion of the skull.
The rod was removed with great precision as the slightest mistake could have caused permanent neurological damage or even death.

Within a few hours of the surgery the boy started regaining consciousness.
