A mayor-elect’s husband has been arrested for allegedly orchestrating the point-blank killing of an elderly man over a land dispute.
Horror footage shows a man identified as Antônio Carlos Lima de Araújo arguing with the victim Antônio Candeia Oliveira.
Araújo, 59, can be seen hiding one of his hands behind his back as the pair trade barbs and wag their fingers at each other.

Nearly two minutes into the clip, he shoves Oliveira with his right hand.

He then extends his left hand from behind his back to reveal a handgun.
A series of loud bangs are heard as Oliveira doubles over.
Blood can be seen pouring down the elderly man’s arm as he bends down to pick up a revolver from the ground.

But the gunman then shoots him once again at point-blank range.
The man filming can be heard sobbing in shock.
He yells: “Don’t do this.
“We didn’t come here to kill anyone!” as the gunman bundles the 72-year-old victim to the ground.

He leaves the scene in tears as the footage ends.
The horror unfolded on a farm in Amapá, north of Brasilia, Brazil on Saturday (Nov 23) afternoon.

A man heard at the beginning of the footage arguing with Oliveira from inside the pickup truck has been identified as businessman Francisco Canindé.
He later turned himself in at the local police station accompanied by his lawyer.

He was arrested on suspicion of orchestrating the murder.
He is the husband of Kelley Lobato, who was recently elected mayor of Amapá.
She belongs to the liberal-conservative União party, which holds 59 seats in Brazil’s Chamber of Deputies.

The alleged gunman Araújo – a former army soldier and reportedly Lobato’s brother-in-law – is still at large.
According to some reports, Oliveira had sold a plot of land to Canindé, who had paid only part of the amount agreed upon.
Canindé had reportedly wanted to settle for less than he owed, while Oliveira had continued to demand the balance.
Lead investigator Stephano Dagher believes the crime may have been premeditated, as reported by Need To Know.
He says the group may have tried to provoke Oliveira into violence in order to shoot him and claim self-defence.
Dagher told local media: “He did indeed have a weapon in his hand when he fell.
“But in my view, that’s precisely why they started filming: to make it look like self-defence.
“Everything was staged and planned to appear as a reaction.
“I believe that, from the start, the perpetrator deliberately escalated the situation to make the victim draw his weapon.”
Mayor-elect Lobato said in a statement: “Regardless of any personal connections, I reaffirm my commitment to the values of peace, respect for life, and justice.
“I do not condone any form of violence under any circumstances.
“And I have complete trust in the authorities to conduct a thorough investigation, clarify the facts, and ensure that the truth prevails and justice is served.”
