It happened in Alicante, Spain.
He later explained that he had been trying to reach the main train station to travel to Zaragoza, where his family lives.
But he was allegedly robbed of his phone and his rucksack as he made his way to the depot on 28 November.
He sought shelter inside a waste container to spend the night.
But he fell asleep and woke up abruptly the next morning (29 Nov) when the container was emptied into the lorry.
Luckily, driver Vicente noticed something moving inside the vehicle through the video camera system.
He stopped the compactor mechanism in the nick of time and alerted the local police.
Officers and firefighters were dispatched to the scene and rescued Mohamed using a ladder.
After climbing down, he was checked for injuries but was found to be unharmed.
The local police took his details and left, as reported by Need To Know.
Mohamed then sat on a bench to recover from the shock and later continued on his way alone.
The news comes after Argentine student Agostina Rubini Medina was likely incinerated after climbing into a rubbish container on her way back from a night out.
The 24-year-old left her friends in the early hours of 3 October to catch a bus back home, but she never boarded.
The police believe she climbed into a rubbish container next to the bus stop in Palma de Mallorca.
The container was emptied into a bin lorry a short while later and the waste was taken to the incineration plant.
Agostina would have arrived dead because it would have been impossible to survive the lorry’s compactor mechanism.
A witness recalled seeing a bag next to the rubbish containers with a blouse that Agostina had been wearing that night.
Her phone emitted signals until it reached the Son Reus waste incineration plant.
The police say all evidence suggests she climbed into the rubbish container of her own accord.
