The suspected crook in a blue jacket and orange top was stopped by the employee.
One-by-one the worker was handed plastic trays containing a multitude of meats, as reported by Need To Know.
The man then patted down his clothes to ensure he had nothing else in them.
It happened outside the Co-Op on Chandlers Avenue, Greenwich, south east London, it’s understood.

It took place on Wednesday (23 Apr).
Local Steve Smith joked: “Picked the wrong joint.”

One claimed: “The thieving is bad enough but you know that sweaty packet of meat is going back on the shelf.”
Dan said: “You can only hope that meat gets binned after that scruff had his grubby paws on it.
“And in his minging jacket, you just know it went straight back on the shelf.”

Another alleged: “I think you mean oxygen thief.”
The Met Police and Co-op have been approached for a comment.
