Video footage showed several uniformed people carefully treading through the water, which still moved aggressively.
The team appeared to gather by a man who was perched on a rock.
Throughout the clip, the rescue team struggled through the treacherous conditions.
They used a rope which was attached onto the land so that they would not lose their footing, and also become trapped in the river.
Two people were reduced from a rocky area and are recovering, as reported by Need To Know.
The other man was dragged down the river and saved by staff from the Municipal Emergency Management Office.
He was then transferred by air ambulance to a hospital.
His condition is currently not known.
The three, who were living in the state of Wisconsin, were found by the Gozalandia River, located in San Sebastián, a town and municipality in Puerto Rico.
Last Friday (2 May), the same day the event occurred, the Municipal Government of San Sebastián shared a video of the rescue operation.

Many locals had strong feelings towards the accident, and had labelled the people involved as “irresponsible.”
Some also highlighted that their actions posed a “risk” to the rescuers.
Manuel said: “Bro, do you know what the weather is like.

“The same municipality must close access to Gozalandia.”
Wanda said: “They should close it there in rainy weather, put a gate that prevents the passage, it’s time they do something. They take risks and risk the rescuers.”
“Irresponsible people. Don’t you see how we’ve been having rainy days. Exposing the staff,” added Yram.
Sandra said: “Poor rescuers.

“Who risk their lives for these people who don’t learn.”
“Those people should be fined because they know the weather is bad but they throw themselves and then endanger their lives and the lives of the rescuers. They are irresponsible,” Lucy added.
