A casual thief told Greggs staff “I’m hungry” as he raided a fridge at a branch of the bakery.

Staff looked on helplessly as the man snatched items and then strolled out.

Wearing sunglasses, a green hoodie and grey bottoms, the thief stuffed his bag after helping himself.

“What is our country becoming?”

And someone else said: “Thieving is not a victimless crime because it’s added into the cost of goods and so we all suffer.”

The Met Police and Greggs have been approached for a comment.

Greggs has been hit by shoplifters up and down the country.

Last month it raised prices in what was called a ‘theft tax’ on customers.
