An ex-boxer with dementia has had a tearful reunion with his missing dog after he was found.
OAP Ed Vierling was left heartbroken after Ty – his black brindle staffie cross – vanished four weeks ago.
His family feared his confusion may have led to the animal’s disappearance.

The former pro heavyweight boxer, who was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2017, has owned his dog for the last four years.
Ty went missing on 25 July in Upper Norwood, near Crystal Palace, south London.
The 68-year-old’s loved ones launched a hunt for him, and his plight was shared by the family of the late TV star Paul O’Grady.

Fellow telly favourite and dog lover Amanda Holden also got behind the appeal.
Yesterday (20 Aug), Ed’s daughter Lana, 38, got a call from Battersea Dogs and Cats Home saying they had Ty, as reported on Need To Know.
She said in a video as she was going to pick him up: “So I’ve had a call from Battersea Dogs Home.
“Ty has been found
“I just wanted to surprise my dad
“I can’t wait to see his face.”
She added: “Thank you, everybody, Paul O’Grady’s family and Amanda Holden.”
In a tearful reunion, Ed hugged Ty and said, “You’re a lovely boy.
“He’s my world.”
His family think the dog was either stolen or given away to someone after Ed got confused.
