The aircraft was found upside down in a field beside the runway, its front section completely destroyed by the force of the impact.
The accident happened at the Manaus Aeroclub, Brazil, on Saturday (21 Mar) morning, as reported by NeedToKnow.
Flight instructor Fernando Lúcio Moreira dos Santos was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 40-year-old’s cause of death was given as brain swelling, bleeding inside the skull and severe head injuries caused by blunt force.
The plane’s second occupant, businessman Ulisses de Oliveira, was pulled from the cockpit wreckage with head and chest injuries.
The 36-year-old, who was in the final stages of his training to become a professional pilot, was taken to a local hospital, where he died hours later.
Fernando was an experienced pilot, with more than 1,500 flight hours, including 400 on the Cessna 152.
He had worked at the aeroclub for six years, serving as training coordinator and director of its Civil Aviation Instruction Centre.
He leaves behind a wife and a five-month-old son.

The accident remains under investigation.
According to preliminary information, the aircraft lost lift shortly after take-off at an altitude of about 30m (98ft).
The pilots are believed to have been performing a touch-and-go manoeuvre at the time.
In a statement, the aeroclub said it is “providing full support to the families, including psychological assistance”.
