A stunned woman discovered she was pregnant after going on a 1,500-mile, 139-day hike – and gave birth hours later.
The young mum, surnamed Dong, went to see a doctor about a cold she picked up on the long trek.
She was even involved in a car accident on the way to the medical centre and the airbags deployed.

Her eventful day became even more bizarre when she was told that she was not only pregnant, but that her water had broken and her cervix was dilated to six centimetres, meaning she was about to give birth.
She had spent 139 days hiking from Hami in northern China, situated close to the border with Mongolia, to Luoyang in Henan Province – which is a distance of around 1,500 miles (2,400km).
Along the way, she endured extreme wind and rain while scaling mountains and deserts.
The high-intensity hike tested her physical limits, so she only went to see a medic after completing it last Friday (13 Feb).
She thought she was suffering with a heavy cold, but instead ended up going into labour.
After learning about her cryptic pregnancy, Ms. Dong gave birth naturally to a healthy baby boy weighing around 5.5lbs (2.5kg).
Fortunately, the delivery went smoothly and both mother and child are in a stable condition.
Ms. Dong’s husband said he was as shocked as his wife about the pregnancy.
The baby was born about a month before his due date, as reported by Need To Know.
Ms. Dong suffers with polycystic ovary syndrome, a hormonal disorder characterised by irregular periods and excess androgen levels.
She also didn’t experience any typical pregnancy symptoms such as morning sickness throughout her term, and assumed her weight gain was related to her lifestyle.
After surviving a car crash on the way to the hospital, Ms. Dong called her son a “lucky baby”.
Obstetricians pointed out that engaging in long-distance hikes without prenatal checkups carries certain risks, including the possibility of premature birth and other potential complications.
