A quick-thinking comedian has been hailed a hero after stepping in to break up a violent street brawl in broad daylight.
Robin Armstrong, 35, leapt into action when two young men began trading punches in a busy shopping area.
With crowds frozen in shock – including families, elderly people and shoppers – he was one of the only people willing to intervene.

The Newcastle comic separated the pair before restraining the attacker, who tried to continue the fight.
Dramatic footage of the incident has since gone viral, racking up a staggering 2.9 million views and more than 10,000 likes.
“Everyone was just frozen, telling them to stop but no one stepped in so we did,” Robin told Need To Know.
“The crowd of people were all shocked.
“There were kids in prams, elderly people and normal shoppers.”
The incident happened on 19 March in Newcastle city centre.
Robin claims the attacker had already been causing trouble earlier that day, including at a local McDonald’s, and had recently been released from prison with an ankle tag.
In the clip, Robin is seen stepping between the two men and holding one back – before the attacker lashes out and takes a cheap shot at him.

But the comedian quickly regains control, grappling the man and flinging him into a fence to end the fight.
He said: “We were out working doing good deeds and give aways, when we heard ‘he’s took my phone’.
“The person attacking the guy who had his phone stolen had already been starting trouble earlier that day in McDonald’s and had recently been let out of prison as he had a tag on his ankle.
“The victim’s partner actually messaged me to say thanks for stopping it.”
Viewers were left stunned by the dramatic scenes.
One person said: “Who needs Batman when you’ve got Robin.”

Another user added: “Rob just flung him like a paper bag.”
A third said: “Seen worse on the Inbetweeners.”
One viewer said: “Robin completely manhandled the pair of them.”

Another person added: “Try and help the lad and then he does that.”
