A breeder of posh pussycats who used to flog them on Facebook has been caught for letting them live in squalor.

Stephanie Neesam has been banned from keeping cats for five years.

The 35-year-old didn’t look after 11 Persians for two months.

The three male and eight female felines – between 18 months to five-years-old – were found at her home.

They couldn’t breathe properly, had fleas, their fur had poo in it, dirty ears and bad teeth.

She used a Facebook page called Purrcise Persian’s to sell them.

Neesam’s home in Horsham Grove, North Shields, Tyne and Wear was raided by cops and RSPCA officials in July last year.

She admitted a charge contrary to the Animal Welfare Act 2006 at Newcastle magistrates court.

In a written statement to the court, inspector Helen Bestwick – from the animal charity – said: “The room was unfurnished apart from an armchair covered with dirty blankets.

“There was one dish for water which was nearly empty and I noticed the cats kept coming over to the bowl.

“The tiled floor was dirty and there was some faeces on it.”

The cats were treated by vets and then taken in by the RSPCA to be roomed.

Inspector Bestwick added: “The owner openly admitted she was aware of the cats’ problems but despite this she failed to provide a suitable environment.

“Get them routinely vaccinated or seek appropriate veterinary treatment for their numerous health issues as any responsible owner would do.”
