A woman has been arrested on suspicion of feeding her baby daughter rat poison and putting her in the freezer to die.
Simary Rayane’s own mother called the police on Tuesday (21 May) night.
She reported that her daughter was allegedly refusing to tell her where the infant was.

Yesterday (22 May) morning, she went to the police in person to tell them that Simary, 27, allegedly admitted to killing Sofia Rayane, 10 months.
Officers went to the family home in Jaboatão dos Guararapes, north east of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and arrested the suspect.
She allegedly confessed to killing her daughter with a rat poison called “chumbinho”.
The pellet-shaped toxin has been banned in Brazil since 2012.
Officers found little Sofia’s body in the freezer, as reported on Need to Know.
The police believe the crime took place about a month earlier.
For weeks, Simary is suspected of lying to her family, friends, and neighbours, telling them that her daughter was with her other grandmother.
She even allegedly bought a phone and sent people messages pretending to be the elderly woman.
Chillingly, the police believe she took Sofia’s frozen body out of the freezer every night to pretend to sing her to sleep.
Officers sealed off the home for forensic analysis and took Simary to the police station for questioning.
Simary last worked as a petrol station assistant and was due to attend a custody hearing at the time of reporting.
The motive for the crime remains a mystery.
