Liu’s feet drag on the floor as he desperately tries to evade his kidnappers who don’t stop the car.
He eventually lets go and falls to the ground, as the car speeds off in another direction.
The terrifying ordeal began when Liu was picked up from Cambodia’s Phnom Penh International Airport.
Liu, a Chinese businessman, had flown there from his home in Australia on 2 March.
After arriving in Cambodia on 3 March at 11 am, Liu called a man named Feng Zhiye, who arranged a car to collect him.
Liu was introduced to Feng through a friend back in December 2024.
Feng had told him that he was opening a business in Phnom Penh, and offered Liu a company representative position with a salary.
He refused to disclose what the business was but Liu trusted him based on his friend’s recommendation.
Once the car sent by Feng arrived at the airport, Liu was greeted by a Khmer man who stated that he would take Liu to meet one of Feng’s business partners.
After a brief time on the road, three Khmer men intercepted the vehicle, forcing it to stop.
They ran up to the car and entered, with two of them grabbing Liu on each side and taking his phone off of him.
Liu’s only means of escape was to throw himself out of the moving car.
After the dramatic move, he was able to run to a nearby restaurant for help.
Liu was taken to a local police station to provide information on what happened, as reported by Need To Know.
The Police Commissariat of Kandal Province released a statement regarding the incident on 4 March.
They are currently investigating and are looking for any clues which may lead them to the kidnappers’ identities as well as the owner of the car involved.
