It happened at 2:30pm last Wednesday (Nov 6) as the area was packed with shoppers and workers.

He was filmed by an onlooker being apprehended outside the clothes store.
The alleged crook was surrounded by the officers.

Another cop was seen wheeling his black e-bike away.
The arrested man is then seen speaking to the cops.

Referring to the bike, he said: “It’s not mine.”
The e-bike was turned upside down by one of the officers and placed on the pavement.

The man being arrested then added: “Chill man.”
It follows a spate of thefts of mobile phones in the capital by crooks clad all in black on e-bikes, as reported on Need To Know.

Onlooker Paul Brown said: “Are the police doing enough to catch these thieves on Oxford Street on e-bikes.
“Londoners have had enough, why can’t the police use motorbikes to catch them?”
Another said: “The police should task up with similar kit.

“They could easily catch them out, but, for some reason most likely public crashing risks, they are not doing it in the same way.
“The police are sometimes on normal cycles, but they can’t catch them that easily if they speed off.”
One local said: “Mop head.”

A Met Police spokesperson said: “A man was arrested and taken into custody at a London police station.
“He has been bailed pending further enquiries.”
